Things To Consider Before You Buy A BedEditor: bjenningsThere are many things to consider before buying a bed or bedroom furniture. Here are some helpful hints to get you started.
IntroductionA person’s bed is probably the most important and personal piece of furniture in anyone’s home. The greatest luxury in the selection of a bed frame and mattress is that there are only one or two people to consider pleasing, the greatest challenge is that the people being pleased are generally the most significant. It is for this reason, that care and consideration should be used when choosing the bed that will become a part of your home.
Things to ConsiderWho:Before even considering the various details of any bed, you should make sure you have a good idea who this bed is going to be for. Is it for a couple? For children? Is this a guest bed and, if so, what kind of guests will you most likely be putting up for an evening? Are they a couple or have children? This first step will be the key in determining everything else. Size: Bed size is significant to more than just the occupants sleeping in it. The size of the room will also determine what size bed fits best. Make sure to accurately measure the room the bed will be placed in and also get a good idea of placement as well. Is there enough access on both sides and at the foot of the bed for a person to maneuver around the room if necessary? If the ceiling in the room is low, you’ll probably want to find a bed with a more low profile head and footboard to give an illusion of height to the room. You may also want to consider how high off the ground the bed stands and what kind of flooring will the bed be standing on. A bed that has ten inches of space beneath it for storage will have that greatly reduced if the entire bed is sitting on very plush carpet. Important: Make sure to know the size of the doors leading into the bedroom. If buying a bed that needs to be assembled, don’t assume that the separated pieces will be small enough to make it through the doorway. Color and Style: Of course, the bed’s color must compliment the color of the room it will be in. If you’re lucky and you’re buying a bed for a new house that’s being redone, you have a great deal of flexibility. Meanwhile, if you’re buying a new bed for a house that’s already finished, you’ll have to be careful to select a color that works with the rest of the room. It’s also important to select a style that matches your room. A room decorated with a more modern feel may make a sleigh bed look antiquated and out of place, while a leather bed may not be the best idea for a very brightly colored children’s room. Finally, there are many different types of bed, each with their own varying needs and demands. Some beds require a box spring, others do not. Make sure you know exactly what the bed you’re interested in requires before selecting it. Materials: There are many different types of materials bed frames are made out of. Some are wrought iron, some are leather, and others are made from various types of wood. Each of these materials gives a different feel and also requires a different level of care and maintenance. You’ll want to think about how long you’ll be keeping the bed after you buy it, and whether or not the maintenance for keeping the bed in pristine condition is worth the expense. A delicate wood or expensive leather may not be a good idea for a room with a very active child. On the other hand, wood beds are the easiest to repair in case of severe damage. Check to see if the manufacturer of your bed offers a warranty or replacement parts and also try to learn about the type of wood being used. Is it a rare wood? What are some of the characteristics about this wood to remember? If this bed is going to be a guest bed or you intend to keep this item for a long period of time, you may want to pick a durable and plentiful material so that it can withstand the test of time. </b> Accessories: Often the easiest way to fully furnish a bedroom is to find a bedroom set, not simply a bed frame and mattress but a collection of furniture all in the same color and style. If you’re looking for a room rather than just a bed, it would be wise to check to see if the bed you’re buying has nightstands, dressers, and armoires that match. If it does not, check to see if the color/style of your bed frame is popular or easily replicated. You may ask the furniture seller whether they know of any casegoods that would match and where to buy them. Extras: When buying your bed, remember to ask whether there is home delivery and what home delivery entails. Some companies simply allow their truckers to drop the packages off at your door, others will take the items inside, still others will actually set the item up for you. When buying your bed, you might wish to enquire about the ease of assembly.
