Starbucks - The Ultimate Caffiene TripEditor: bidbabynetWhether enjoying a hot cup of quality coffee or serving one up, it's no wonder Starbucks has such a loyal following of customers and employees.
Starbucks is a great place for people to socialize, drink coffee and just relax. Starbucks has over ten thousand stores worldwide, and ambitions to open at least sixteen hundred more. There is something about this coffee that people cannot refuse. Whether it is the atmosphere, the image, or the trendy spender there’s no doubt about it, people love this coffee. In fact people are paying on average of three dollars a cup per visit. More strikingly the average customer visits a Starbucks location at least three times per week. That is an expense of thirty-six dollars a month per customer on average. Starbucks offers teas, coffees, ice-creams, pastries, and sandwiches. It’s no surprise that the annual revenue for two thousand and five was six point four billion dollars with net earnings of four hundred and ninety four million. Since opening in 1971 Starbucks has expanded and now offers wireless internet service, thanks to the great people at T-Mobile. The rise to fame for Starbucks was a fast one. They opened the first location in Seattle’s Pike Place Market in Seattle, Washington in 1971. Howard Shultz joined the team in 1982, he now resides as chairman. Shultz thought it would be a great idea to open a chain of Starbucks locations throughout the United States after visiting Italy. With the growing popularity in coffee shops, downtown Seattle Washington would be perfect. So in 1987 Howard Shultz opened his own chain of coffee shops, and acquired the Starbucks name as well as the assets. At the time the company only had seventeen stores, but this would soon change. In 1992 Starbucks made its debut. They began opening locations in Barnes and Noble bookstores, provided coffee on United Airlines flights, and began opening shops in Starwood hotels. There are many reasons Starbucks has become so admirable. The focus on quality, and commitment to social causes has ranked Starbucks as one of the Best Companies to work for. Allowing employee’s who work just twenty hours per week are still eligible for benefits. They have a progressive compensation plan, retirement savings plans, life and disability coverage, and adoption assistance plans. It’s no wonder Starbucks has ranked one of the best companies to work for (according to Fortune Magazine). A company that strives not only for its own survival but strives for the employee’s that got them the success they see today.
